Today is the most dangerous time for a gay person to be alive

In the past gay people were hated, discriminated against, and sometimes physically attacked.  Today we live in a society which accepts being gay as normal and even allows persons of the same sex to get married.  In fact, it seems as if the reality is just the opposite of the title of this post.  If this life were the only one we had, that would be correct.  There is one problem.  We must all die.

It is appointed for man to die once, and after that comes judgment.  (Hebrews 9:27)

God began the human race by creating a man and a woman and uniting them in the first marriage.

Then the man said,

“This at last is bone of my bones
and flesh of my flesh;
she shall be called Woman,
because she was taken out of Man.”

Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh.  (Genesis 2:23,24)

The commands God has given concerning marriage make it clear that marriage is only between a man and a woman.

Each man should have his own wife and each woman her own husband.  (1 Corinthians 7:2)

In the past gay people at least knew that what they were doing was wrong and there was always the chance they would repent of their actions and come to Jesus Christ and be forgiven.  Today they are unlikely to repent because they don’t think they are doing anything wrong.  There are even churches that perform same sex weddings.  The institutions that were intended to carry out God’s work on earth are encouraging rebellion against God.  Anyone who tries to warn gay people about their danger is accused of being homophobic.

Predestination and prayer

Those of us who are saved were chosen for salvation before the world was even created. Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places,   even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him. In love   he predestined us for adoption to himself as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will,  to the praise of his glorious grace, with which he has blessed us in the Beloved.   (Ephesians 1:3-6) Since God has already decided who will be saved and who won’t there is no point in praying for the salvation of another person.  If he has been predestined for salvation he will be saved; if he hasn’t been predestined he won’t be.  Our prayers will have no effect.  This seems like an unanswerable argument against praying that someone be saved.  B...

Mount Zion, in the far north

Great is the  LORD  and greatly to be praised in the city of our God! His holy mountain,   beautiful in elevation, is the joy of all the earth, Mount Zion, in the far north , the city of the great King. Within her citadels God has made himself known as a fortress.   (Psalm 48:1-3) This Psalm speaks of Mount Zion, which is another name for Jerusalem, as being in the far north.  Jerusalem was near the center of Israel.  After the kingdom split in two it was near the northern border of Judea but there is no way it could be considered to be in the far north. It seems obvious that this doesn’t speak of the present city of Jerusalem but of a new Jerusalem which will exist in the future.  Someday God will destroy the present earth and create a new heaven and a new earth.  This new earth is described in chapters 21 and 22 of Revelation.  He will create a new Jerusalem which will be the capital of the new earth.  (Perhaps he has al...
